In the past few months, I have had multiple problems with Pinterest. First, their bot changed the title of many of my posts to “Pinterest Visitors.” This was understandable because of a glitch on the blog around that time for about a week. It was strange how the pins couldn’t be changed back to their correct titles, but eventually (months later) they fixed it.
Then I recently discovered many pins had the title “Account Suspended.” This was bizarre, since I have never had any account anywhere suspended. Not ever. The reason I found out about this was because my Pinterest visitors had declined from maybe 200 per pin to 2. Pinterest tech support sent back an absurd suggestion about changing the titles myself. Absurd because I didn’t change them in the first place, and the system would not let me change them back. They wanted a video of the problem. They couldn’t understand written explanations. [shoulder shrug]
Today was the last straw – the third strike if you will. They had suggested I delete my Pinterest cookies, which I did. However, when I viewed my Pinterest board before logging in, I realized they were adding category labels to each pin. (These were not showing up for me when I was logged in. No doubt these are done by algorithm.) Most of them were harmless until I came to my pin from December 10, 2023, Isaiah 53:6, entitled “Like Sheep.” They had labeled it “turn on”. Not believing my eyes that it could mean what I suspected, I clicked on the label button. Sadly, it led to a group of pins that had an extremely inappropriate theme, with suggestive thumbnails. (Note that Pinterest users are not able to turn off these labels from showing to visitors.)
So goodbye, Pinterest. I’m leaving now before anything worse happens.
Please be sure that you have this blog bookmarked so that you can still see the daily layouts. Many of them are accompanied by more context, related verses, and sometimes a more in-depth message – all of which is not possible on Pinterest anyway.
Before long it will have been 10 years since this blog was started on April 26, 2014. That’s going to be 3,653 layouts through April 25, 2024 (the next day will start year 11). And unlike the navigation at Pinterest, you can easily search the blog or go to a particular month and year.
